Letter from the President

Dear Sisters,
My name is Aideen Floretta. I was initiated in Alpha Omicron Pi, Epsilon Sigma, in
December 2018. I went through formal
recruitment during the fall semester of my freshman year. During the parties, it was very clear to me,
even from the start, where my home was. During Bid Day, I received my bid from AOII,
accepted, and became a part of this beautiful organization. Even during the parties, I was drawn
to the idea of taking an organization, highlighting our strengths and beliefs, putting it on show,
and finding more people to become a part of that organization that you love. I ran for Vice President of External Operations my freshman year. It was an office I truly loved, and I felt, brought us closer together.
My sophomore year, I ran for Vice President of Membership Recruitment.I was slated in, voted in, and went through
officer transitions. I immediately knew which things from going through on the other side could
be fixed, what needed to stay, and what could be done other ways. I started planning recruitment. I was nervous to run my first recruitment virtually, but the girls in the chapter
still had faith in me, and therefore I had faith in myself. Everyone worked very hard, through
tedious, vigorous recruitment workshops and conversation role-playing, and ultimately our
chapter grew stronger and worked harmoniously.
I am very proud of how much our chapter has grown and thankful for all of the feedback and support I have gotten during my term as VPMR. Ultimately this previous office had given me many skills that are important for being president.
Now that I have talked about my previous office and skills gained from that, I would like
to talk about my goals for the President's office. The first goal I have would be to improve the
individual relationships between members in the chapter. I have experienced so much joy in this chapter, and I want that to be the experience of every girl in our chapter. So by working on internal relationships, I think our chapter will be able to function unanimously. My second goal would be to create a positive relationship with the other Panhellenic organizations on campus. Greek Life is about being the best you can be, and that includes treating other Greek life members with respect.
Additionally, I think if both organizations work together on campus, we can raise numbers and
the reputations of sorority life on campus. My last goal would be to help our chapter’s numbers
and brand blossom.
Our chapter is full of beautiful, wonderful leaders, and it’s time to show the campus who we are.
Lastly, I would like to talk about why I should be president. I really care about this
chapter. I spend countless hours of the day helping other members with their offices, planning
events, making sure every member is ok, and spreading a positive reputation around campus. I
am not biased, I make decisions regardless of my personal opinion, and I am not afraid to stand
up for our chapter, its members, or our brand. I do not waver in decisions that I know are right,
and I do not keep my mouth closed when I see members being hurt. I will always stand up for
the girls in our chapter. Ritual is very important to me, and I will do everything I can to protect our constitution and ritual. Lastly, I am a leader. I will lead the chapter proudly throughout the term.
